The path to sustainability at "Terras da Comporta"

Today, Vanguard Properties and Greenvolt Communities signed their first implementation contract, marking the initial development of what will be one of Europe’s largest energy communities. Embodied by the project’s cornerstones of mobility, innovation and environmental sustainability, the first installation is planned for the Dunas Golf Course technical support building, which will facilitate the "Terras da Comporta" strategy in general and the golf course in particular.

This agreement between the two companies follows the protocol signed in April 2022, which focussed on creating a decentralised energy production community for "Terras da Comporta". Covering a total of 1,376 hectares, this project also includes the "Torre" (Alcácer do Sal) and "Dunas" (Grândola) developments, with an estimated production of approximately 7MW (one of the largest in Europe). This capacity will be generated via photovoltaic panels that will provide at least 80 per cent energy autonomy from self-produced renewable sources.

With this innovative approach, each house, technical support building, hotel and commercial area will produce energy for its own consumption or to share with the community, in the event of excess production or a shortfall in demand.
