Torre Golf Course hosts the international press with a presentation by Sergio Garcia

Torre Golf Course, which is part of the Terras da Comporta project, recently welcomed a group of Europe’s leading golf journalists for an exclusive visit. The event included a presentation by the course designer, renowned Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia, who highlighted the layout’s peculiarities and technical challenges. The official opening is scheduled for mid-2025.

“Torre Golf Course combines technical demands with the region’s natural beauty. Designing it has been a real thrill because we wanted to create a layout that offered a unique and memorable experience, in a place that adapts perfectly to the surrounding countryside,” said García, whose objective is to make the course as competitive as possible.

Torre Golf Course is being developed to become an international benchmark, like Dunas Golf Course, which has already been voted Portugal’s finest course, while ranked ninth in the table of best European courses and considered the best new course in Europe and the world (2023). With painstaking design and Conor Walsh's experience as a shaper, the objective is to create a course that attracts golfers from all over the world.

José Cardoso Botelho, CEO of Vanguard Properties, underlined how important this new course is for Portuguese golf: “Torre Golf Course will constitute a milestone for the region and for the sport in Portugal. Having Sergio Garcia involved makes us proud and brings a new dimension to the project. We believe this course will not only be one of the best in the world, but also a benchmark regarding quality, integration and positive impact on the region.”

During the visit, journalists were invited to walk some of the holes and learn first-hand about the concept behind the layout. Torre Golf Course has been designed to respect natural topography and local biodiversity, thus providing a challenging playing experience that is at one with the surrounding landscape. As with Dunas Golf Course, sustainability and water management are always a concern.

Scheduled to open in mid-2025, the Torre Golf Course, which is yet another outstanding feature in the Terras da Comporta development, promises to consolidate Portugal's position as a top golfing destination in a unique and distinctive setting.
