Vanguard Properties becomes the sole patron of Portugal's main cultural institutions

A member of the Serralves Founders' Council since 2022, and supporter of the recently inaugurated Gulbenkian Modern Art Centre, Vanguard Properties has also recently become a patron of MAAT.

Vanguard Properties has consolidated its patronage protocol with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation by supporting the new Centro de Arte Moderna (CAM - Centre of Modern Art), as well as the construction of the center's new roof, which was designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Through this protocol, which runs until 2025, Vanguard Properties clearly shows its commitment to promoting culture, art, and science, while recognising the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s work and the important role it plays in Portuguese society.

In addition to this, there is a new partnership with the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), where Vanguard Properties acts as a patron, which is part of another partnership with the EDP Foundation. The highly successful property developer is the first to become MAAT’s patron, for an initial period of one year.

The partnership began when Vanguard Properties supported the Nosso Barco Tambor do Terra exhibition, a large installation created by the Brazilian artist, Ernesto Neto. Part of the agreement also includes an artist residency programme and a pavilion in the MAAT Garden, which will function as an extension of the museum's exhibition area.

Since 2022, Vanguard has also been a member of the Serralves Founders' Board, which consists of different entities approved by the Serralves Foundation's Board of Directors, considering the different services rendered to the Foundation or their particular merits.

Vanguard Properties’ CEO, José Cardoso Botelho, explained that “considering Vanguard Properties’ vision and approach regarding contemporary art, architecture, landscape and crucial issues for society and its future, such as sustainability, Vanguard Properties has pursued an active policy of sponsorship and social responsibility that extends to various areas, particularly when it comes to the arts.

“Becoming a patron of these three artistic foundations, which are crucially important to the country, was a logical decision that entails great responsibility and satisfaction. We believe that, together, we will create innovative projects and initiatives for audiences of different backgrounds and ages”, highlights the property developer's CEO.
